Gaming console display problems aren’t limited to cracked or shattered screens, nor are they limited to portable gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch. Any gaming console can have display issues that need to be addressed by a professional technician, vice relying on the troubleshooting recommendations of a YouTube video.
Not that there’s anything wrong with YouTube videos. In fact, a lot of the videos you’ll find on YouTube tend to be following the basic troubleshooting recommendations of the manufacturer in question. Following the manufacturer’s recommendation for troubleshooting specific issues is always the first step any owner should take.
That being said, sometimes the scope or severity of the problem is outside the solutions provided by the recommended troubleshooting solutions. Sometimes they don’t work or weren’t the right answer in the first place. In cases like these, you need to trust the pros at 911 Phone Repair to help correct your console display issues.
The good news is our technicians have a ton of experience correcting display problems. 911 Phone Repair in Midwest City has over 10 years of providing technical services throughout Oklahoma and over 30 years of technical repair experience. A lot of that time has been spent restoring gaming console displays to their proper working order.
It’s safe to assume we handle repairs for the big gaming consoles out there. Those, of course, are:
But if you’ve got other gaming consoles not listed here or are unsure whether we service them or not, contact us. It never hurts to ask and if we don’t have the solution you’re hoping for, we’ll at least have recommendations.
One of the most appealing things about portable gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch is the versatility of gameplay it allows for.
The problem with these consoles, though, is the same problem we see with cell phones. If things have a glass screen, the glass screen can often crack or shatter.
If you’ve got a broken screen, bring it to us to be replaced. We can usually have the work done in about 30 minutes and have you back to playing normally the same day.
Okay, this may seem obvious, but if you’re dealing with a traditional gaming console that hooks up to a television or other display monitor, then you need to make sure the display device is actually working.
We know you’ve already done that. But let’s assume there are other readers out there that haven’t. It’s always better to be safe and state the obvious and save you a trip into the store if something like this is the real problem.
So, to check your device, simply switch the input to another device (Blu-ray player, streaming stick, etc) and make sure you’re getting a quality picture. If you are, the current display is good to go and you can cross it off your list of potential causes.
If you’re not dealing with a broken screen for a portable gaming console and your monitor or TV is working fine with other devices, then it’s time to look at your cables and see if they’re the source of your display problems.
The main cable you’re going to inspect, of course, is the HDMI cable that runs from your console directly to your TV or monitor (this assumes the console you’re using isn’t older and using something other than an HDMI). The main thing you’re looking for is signs of damage. This can include splits, abrasion, or even signs of chewing.
If there is damage, remove the cable and try a different HDMI cable you know works with another device. If the display problem is corrected, then you know it was the cable.
Even if there aren’t signs of damage, it never hurts to try a different cable you know is functional. This helps ensure the cable isn’t the problem and something else is.
After eliminating the cable, the next likely place to check is the HDMI port on the console. The port could be loose or damaged. It could be repairable or, more than likely, simply needs to be replaced. If you believe it is the HDMI port, you should bring it to our store in Midwest City for a free diagnostic.
